spark plug color

    Ok first pic is of my finger on the coil pack.........notice the wire to the right......that is the spark plug wire to the spark plug on the other side. Follow it to the plug. Also the side with the coilpacks the spark plug is underneath the coil............undo the bolt in the pic pull straight out, look in hole you"ll see the spark plug.

    Next pic is of two coilpacks .

    On the 2009 Model you might have 3 coilpacks or six not sure. Just look for the coilpacks and any sparkplug wire running away from it.

    4.10 gears, sliders, and lots of buttons.
    The second gens are a little different, but just like Cobra said, follow the wires. The plugs are in the middle of the valve covers, 3 on each side.

    Just so y'all know, I'm keeping an eye on this thread as I am interested in changing my own plugs at 30k miles, too. I appreciate all the help everybody is giving, and I'm looking forward to adding a wrinkle to my brain and some plugs to my truck as a result of this thread.

    the first pic is my hot truck,

    2nd pic should be the drive side of the engine and 3rd pic is driver's side engine... u mean the coil pack is that black knob on that engine block? sure looks a lot different than the 02 :confused:

    Yup thats them..........undo the one bolt that secures it down and pull it straight out and you will find the plug in the hole.

    The coil pack is on the valve cover, not the block. It has the wires going into it.

    Chris is right should have pointed that out also.........sorry I forgot you don't know what to look for.

    The last pic of the two black square things with the wire connected to it and one bolt attaching it to the vavle cover are your coil packs.

    Ok, so after you undo the bolt and pull it out, how do you remove the spark plug? I tried it once and removed the tip but I still couldn't figure it out.

    Take one of your new spark plugs and fit it to your spark plug socket(i don't know if you have the same size as mine)if it does not fit take the new plug and go to the parts store find the right size spark plug socket) the spark plug socket has a rubber grommet in it that helps in holding the plug your removing as you draw it out of the hole, get a long and short socket extension use both or one with the socket, slide it into the hole over the sparkplug and remove the plug.

    a 5/8ths spark plug socket will do the trick. the extensions are definitely needed too.

    Note that if your spark plug socket doesn't have the rubber grommet, you can use a magnet (either a pen magnet or a magnet wrapped to a coat hangar with electrical tape) to lower in/remove spark plugs.
