Question Locking the front with IFS???

Here's the deal: I have a 2010 TRD offroad and absolutely enjoy using the rear locker. I would like to install a front locker to add further capability. Currently my setup is stock, but I plan to have a short lift and go to 33" tires.

Heres the thoughts/questions that I have:
(1) I dont want to void my warranty just yet with a SAS.
(2) Its rare and seldom that I go offroad, but I like having the "ace up the sleeve" when needed.
(3) I have seen ARB up front (part #121), but I was hoping for Eaton E locker or Auburn ECTED to keep it electric and avoid going the air actuated route.
(4) Does Eaton or Auburn make a selectable that fits in a tacoma?
(5) Would I have to upgrade anything else?
(6) Would CVs have to be upgraded?

I dont plan to punish my truck, but I would like to know that it could take it given the option!

For the wheeling you do, I think just the rear locker should be fine. I wouldn't "waste" money on something like that... if you wheeled hard enough to warrant the use of a front locker, I would think there's other things you'd need more/first like sliders and belly armor. Just my opinion though. I wheel pretty hard and don't have any lockers.

its more for the snow!

I agree that all the little things count like skid plates. I plan to use All Pro or Budbuilt to do that job as well.

The truck is more of my daily driver. Last year we got more than 100" of snow and with the rear locked it would still get stuck. I know that tires would make a big difference, but I have had a front locker, and that increases your chances of moving forward!

I am not new to four wheeling, or even four wheeling in snow; but I am new to owning a toyota tacoma and modifying it. (previously I was a ford/chevy/dodge guy)

Thanks for the post! (I will be adding skids to my checklist of things I need now!)

since you say that you rearely go off road then i wouldn't consider a front locker..well maybe if you got everything else done first. i would suggest you get full armor first, and that includes front/rear high clearence bumpers, skids, and most importantly..sliders! then i would suggest a winch. after all that then maybe think about a front locker.

ARB is the only selectable available for the front.

Lotta coin for "ace up your sleeve."

I'd say go ahead, but I'd do

Lift/tires

Sliders

Winch

First, before I locked the front.

Winch is the best ace up your sleeve you could have.

You need a locker as much as I needed the offroad package. So you don't need it.
