Taco Engine Swap????

Is it possible to swap the 4.0V-6 for the 5.7V-8? I realize the transmission would need to be changed also. I also realize it would be a logistically challenging undertaking...not to mention expensive.

Are there any companies that do such a project "turn key"?

The reason I ask is because I've wanted an AEV JK Hemi conversion for some time now...but I don't have a great deal of faith that a JK would be a good daily driver in terms of dependability.

Somewhere there is an article about an XRunner that was V8 powered. I think it was something Toyota built as a factory demo or something. So it should at least be possible to stuff it under the hood. Haven't heard of it being built by an aftermarket company.

 

Time is not the problem, the issues are: how much would it cost/who could do this and make it work seamlessly? Regarding cost, AEV Jeeps run $65K-$70K, so, I'm prepared for that.

With that kind of budget, it seems like your main problem is WHO can make it happen for you.

Tennessee/North Carolina is full of car enthusiasts. There has to be someone near you who can pull it off.

Maybe post this in the XRunner forum and try to network a little. I figure the XRunner guys are a little more into major powerplant mods. Perhaps someone knows a guy with these types of skills that is willing to broaden his horizons and take on a Yota swap.

 

Look for a wrecked tundra and get the tranny and engine from that. You could try and see if toyota would do the swap, if not im sure there are plenty of people that would do it for the right price. I actually saw the x-runner with the tundra v8 in it at the long beach gran prix! It was fast AF
