Has anyone ever gone from Factory Bucket seats to a Bench Seat? I have a friend with a Tacoma that is thinking of ditching his buckets for the bench. I have seen a few threads on going the other way, but wonder if going the opposite way is a problem? Any tutorials? Anyone have a bench seat on the east coast that they want to get rid of?

Does the passenger side of the bench fold flat or fold forward?

The passenger side does not fold flat. The only thing the seat does is incline forward and slide up to access the back of the reg cab. I wouldn't recommend it. It's annoying as hell, and there no place to rest your right arm. The holes in the trucks are the same. I don't see why it wouldn't be possible, if thats really what you want. I know between the 08/09 years there were wiring changes to the airbags, so try to stick to 05-08, don't swap with an 09+ cause you'll have a headache getting the airbag system sorted out.

When your friend does the bench seat swap, please document it. I want to do this, too, but I've yet to work up the courage and would like some guidance.

Tell him not to get rid of his bucket seats too quick if he does it. The bench seat sucks and he will want to go back to buckets.

That was my thought too, so he can go back, I have a feeling it isn't a good idea, but he things that the extra seat space will give him extra space in the truck overall. So we are going to try to look at a new truck with the bench seat and see if it is nice and it is good for him then we will need to find a Bench seat. If anyone has a bench seat let me know, would be interested in it. Going to go to some local junk yards and look around, but I doubt we will find anything.

because the sides on it extend up in front of the shifter, at least on the auto trans they do idk about the manuals. idk what yours looks like but maybe,
lol. maybe have a switch that, switches from bench to buckets on the fly?

Like a flip up console that I can put away whenever a lady wants to sit real close like.
