gas tank dent

after going to Potawatomi last sunday i discovered a large dent in my gas tank. i blew it off thinking it wouldn't hurt anything. later that week i had my empty light come on when the fuel gauge said i had a half a tank. i dropped the tank today and discover the the sending unit bracket had about a 45 degree bend in it and was jammed in to the bottom of the gas tank. so iv bent the sending unit back in to the proper position and now it wont fit in to the tank right, iv beat the hell out of the tank trying to get it to where the sending unit will fit in properly and i don't think its going to happen. so now iv got two questions,

1st anyone have any ideas how to get the dent out of the tank?
and 2nd does anyone know if the tank off of a extended cab or a regular cab will fit my double cab?

bump for pics. Maybe use an adhesive like jb weld and attach something to it to pull the dent out? hmm

 

Try setting the tank on 4X4 wooden blocks and using another 4X4 block going down through the sending unit lid, drive the bottom of tank down. I would file off the the sharp corners of your driving 4X4 block to avoid piercing the metal. I would not use any JB weld or other similar products, there is too much chance of a leak. This could be a major danger risk.

If this does not work, I would call the dealership parts department and ask them about interchagability between cabs and their tanks.

Around here, radiator shops sell new fuel tanks cheaper than a Toyota dealer if you have to replace it. I have mixed emotions about recommending a used junk yard tank

 

i like the jb weld idea. iv been trying to hit it from the inside but the dent is right in the middle of the fuel sump so i cant really get anything in there.

i've got the stock skid. im going to weld some round stock to the bottem to make it a bit stronger, after i get a new tank.

 

Extended cab and reg cab tanks dont fit in a DC from what ive been told...my tank is dented to hell
