So I will start off with this :anonymous:
Began the horn relocate after work today and went to test the horns to see if they still worked and no sound at all. Don't think I pulled the connectors out of the plugs or messed up any wires, just carefully fed them through the front end to relocate behind the battery in the pre-threaded holes.

Bad connections? Blown fuse? Is there something I am missing?

Feel like a fool posting but hey, it's the internet, completely exempt from random harassment for being a dumbass, right? :D

Check the fuse first. You may of grounded out the wire when pulling it through. Make sure your connections are solid as well.

    Fuse was fine.
Who woulda thought the mounting brackets were grounds...
Helped to have them bolted on to test.
Works fine now, let the :crapstorm: begin!

I ran into the same thing, haven't had horns for a month. But I had no clue the mounting brackets were grounds that may have just fixed my problem!

Many circuits on a vehicle are like that. The metal frame is the ground/return point. That's why it's very important the large ground cable from battery negative to the frame must have a good clean connection. Plus all other ground wires to the frame found on the vehicle of course.

    Interesting...

There are pre-threaded holes behind the battery to do this?

<< leaves to go search ;)

Yep just reroute the wires and bolt them on. You might want to separate the temp sensor that is in the same wire loom... unless you want to know your engine bay temp instead of outdoor temp :spy:

I think I know exactly why mines not working first I relocated b/c of my satoshi grill, then I could still see stuff I didn't want to so I took high temp paint and painted.

This would be bad if you had installed a mobile radio and grounded it straight to the battery.

If you do this, and your battery's main ground strap becomes disconnected, the return path for all your electronics now becomes the ground you ran to the radio. It could possibly overheat that small wire and it could catch fire.

That's one of the reasons why if you ever ground something straight to the battery, the ground wire should be fused.

I wasn't talking specifically about the horn mentioned in the OP.

Just saying there already is a main ground connection at the battery making the entire car one big metal grounding sink. So sometimes you will encounter smaller ground wires attached to the body providing a return for example a plastic taillight assembly.

And other devices like the horn that can connect metal to metal might use that as a path for the return.
