I found out today that a local gas station is going to carry ethanol free gas. I was just wondering what the pros/cons would be to running this full/part time in my truck. I am assuming that it won't hurt anything. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Sam

    3-6% better mpg than E10.

It can only run better, no downside.

No cons unless it costs 3-6% more.

How about performance wise? Any better? I think it's going to cost around a $1 more than regular.

You talking $1 a tank or per gallon. I used to get E0 for 5 cents more.

Uh , ethanol free premium only costs me 10 cents a litre more than ethanol blended 87 , or about 37 cents a US gallon

I'm not positive about the price. The pump isn't installed yet. I heard it's going in soon. I wanted to learn a thing or two to see if it was worth a shot. Thanks guys.

It should not be $1 more a gallon, thats highway robbery you should report them to the BBB if thats the fact! I'm not sure on the laws of them placing a ethanol sticker on the pumps and how strict they are, but I go to the boat place here (its a BP) and they have a ethanol free pump which is very popular with the boating folks. I'm not sure this year ethanol will be so much cheaper, I've been hearing about the corn crops being waaay under their quotas/projections.

I found E-0 downthe road from me and they were trying to charge .90 cents more per gallon! I went with E-10 that day. The other times that I have run E-0 it's been about .05-.10 cents more per gallon. The truck runs great on the stuff!

    BBB?

They're a joke. If a business is not a member, nobody gives a shit.
If a business is a member, there might be some pressure but overall, the BBB will favor the business.

    Let the market decide.
When they don't sell any E0 at +$1/gallon, they'll drop their price.

If the pump is dispensing gasoline with ethanol or other oxygenates (such as MTBE) it must have a sticker informing the customer.
The ethanol sticker mere has to say that the gasoline MAY contain UP TO 10% ethanol. It does not have to give an exact percentage.

Using marine or aviation fuel in an automobile is illegal because highway taxes have not been paid on it.
Normally people don't do it with gasoline because marine/aviation gas is typically much more expensive than street gas, but it's a temptation on Diesel because it may be a buck a gallon lower.

But the DOT is out "dipping" tanks and if they find that you have used dyed fuel, it's a $25,000 fine.
Secondary problem is the emissions systems in the new Diesels can not handle the older fuels... they require ULSD. It's the exact same problems as when lead was phased out of gasoline in the 70s, and also causing problems for engines... except in the case of Diesels, it's the high pressure injection pumps that are failing.
