    Does any one know the difference between the middle and top rings on 4.0 2005 4.0 they look pretty close to the same but I don't know thanks for any help motor parts every were and don't know we're the ? Bleep to put.

    You talking about the piston rings? Where in Yucca do you live? Thats my old home town!

    I wired a few house in Western Hills. I kinda miss the desert. My family still lives up there. I moved there in '87 and moved out about a 1 1/2 ago.

    I just called a buddy about the piston rings and he recommends you call toyota or maybe hit up autozone for a diagram. I'd go to Car quest there in town too cause they are pretty good with that stuff.

    When I rebuilt my l31 350 the upper rings had a dimple (like a matchmark) on them. You have to really look for it- probably feel it before you see it.

    Both rings were marked with a special dye (stripe) on the side that goes towards the top of the piston.

    I hope that if you've got the engine torn down this far that you're going to install new rings. The new rings will come with instructions that reiterate what I wrote above.
