I like to keep a 2.5 gallon tank of gas tied up in my bed just in case I run out. I do this b/c my low gas light doesn't work and I like to push the limit on miles per tank.

That said, I know letting gas just sit in a tank can cause extra water to develop and other negative things, especially with E10 fuel. So what stabilizer would you recommend adding to the extra tank.

I've heard startron was pretty good.

Just refill it every time you fill up.
First pour the 2.5 gallons into your tank and then put fresh gas in the can.
I use Stabil made for ethonal in my lawn mower gas. Seems to work good.

OME all around. SPC UCA. This and that.
Nice step side by the way. I don't see a whole lot of them around. I use Stabill in the wife's and my car when we went to Iraq for a year. worked good.

I use Seafoam, mostly since that way I have one product that I use as a fuel additive and a fuel stabilizer. Works in the truck, the motorcycle and the generator.

If you keep the tank full, there's no space for condensation to develop and get water in the gas.

I use Startron to help with the E10 issue and it seems to work pretty well.

We put Stabil in the gas of a Yamaha 90hp 2-stroke and ran the motor on a hose for a few minutes before putting it up for winter. It sat for 2 years without running then I pulled it out and ran the hose to the motor it started on the first few cranks.

BTW, I would have absolutely no probelm running Stabil, Startron or Seafoam, I just choose Seafoam for the "one product" thing mentioned earlier.

My generator is my extreme case. It's an emergency generator that normally sits all year long (only had one emergency so far). Every spring I drain the fuel tank, change the oil, refill the fuel tank with fresh gas and Seafoam. I then let it run for 20 minutes or so, shut it down, top it off, and back into storage it goes. Over the last 5 years it always starts up on the second pull after sitting all year.

Seafoam also works great on the motorcycle's CV carb. Keeps the jets clean and "jetting".

2 months is prob the longest i've waited to use the extra gas

i keep it nearly full but the max fill line is obviously below the close valve and so there is going to be some air left inside.

i'm not really concerned just thought i'd take precaution cause i can. and if i ever get a small motor of some sort i'd def use a stabilizer and in theory know what works or not

Should have said that first. I would not worry a bit about 2 months assuming that the container is reasonably full. Only time I would run anything if waiting two months is for my bike, and that's only due to the CV carb jets liking to clog up if it's not run regularly. If it was FI, I'd have no additives.
