I just found this and was going to say try your other keys before you do anything! Glad it worked out for you!

I had a similar thing with my old Celebrity in college..wouldn't turn at all not even to ACC. The spare key flipped it right over. Always check the obvious stuff first..

I had a Celebrity in college too! The key was worn so badly that i could it out of the ignition while driving. The 2.8L was a bulletproof engine, kinda wish i still had it.

    Jeez are we related?

My 86 with the 2.8 was the one I had the no turn issue with. 2 years later I had an 88 with the 2.5, that one I could pull the key on..but only the master not the spare.

Time to replace the lock. 02 still have it on the dash? Remove the cover over the IGN, put the key in and move to run position, push button under the case and pull out tumbler. Easy.

Ha ha! I had an 85 for two years (with the carburetor), then I bought my dads 87 "Eurosport" Celebrity with multiport FI my senior year of high school. The 87 was the one with the key issue. I am not aware of the turning problem.

Sorry for the off topic conversation
