Motor Swap question ????

I just purchased a 1996 Tacoma 4x4 auto 2.7liter.Just curious what I would have to change to put the 6cyl in this? Will the transmission bolt up???

The transmission I believe has a different bolt pattern between the two. As for changing the engines out, you have a bit of work ahead of you. you will need the ECM, as well as the wiring harness for the swap. It can be done though!

far cheaper and easier to rebuild the motor...and IIRC folks sell better heads to up the power. On the other hand, a simple rebuild of the motor might give you the power you want.

After 27 years, the motor is probably getting a bit tired.

And I have had good luck in getting a local shop to rebuild my engines if they are running when pulled.

Hence my "lol" at the end. I knew you had to have just done the math wrong. Yes, some motors can get tired in 16 years, but I have seen more and more engines running well into the 200k plus range, and 20 years. But yes, you are correct.
