new member, with problem.

2001 2.4 Tacoma has idle problem. Idles at 1000 to 1500rpm. Replaced MAF, throttle sensor, O2 sensor, cleaned the flap in the throttle body. Honestly, I am at the end of ideas. Currently replacing head gasket. Came to find out, it is a Calf emissions truck even though we bought it new in 2001. Any ideas would be appreciated. What are the chancs of it being the computer?

I also have a 2001 Tacoma 2.4 V6 PreRunner and had the exact same problem. A family friend and previous Toyota mechanic took the truck apart and also ran a computer check. He determined that the truck which was made according to California emissions specs had a melted O2 sensor. He ended up replacing the sensor and catalytic convertor and I have not had the problem sense. This occurred roughly a year ago and the truck idled at about 2000 rpm. Hope this helps, but remember to take it to a place with a good computer to check the whole system. I first took it to a place who replaced several parts that did not need to be changed and cost me $$$. Also, because the truck is set to California standards, the emissions sensors and such are very sensitive.

one problem with both posts, is that toyota does not make a 2.4, they make a 2.7l 4 cylinder and a 3.4L V6. Idk if ya'll had a typo or not. Also, my 3.4l V6 idles that high when it is cold, after it warms up it drops back down to normal. It isn't the computer. I would take it to the stealership or to a well known/trusted mechanic and have them check the system on it and see why it is doing what it's doing.

Wrong. Toyota does make a 2.4L 4 cyl. It's called a 2rz-fe.

My mistake. I thought it was an older motor than what's in ops vehicle.
EDIT: I guess I meant for the year of the ops vehicle....
