What was included in that price and what kind of number were you expecting? Throw out all the facts before trying to make a company look bad.

10 years part warranty and 90 days labor. For $2300 I was getting G2 4.56 gears because that's all they will install. I got 2 other quotes of 1600 and 1900 from other off road shops

Not trying to make a company look bad, that's what yelp and google reviews are for.

2300 isnt horrible considering the 10 year warranty and the fact that they are prob not setting them up they will prob have thim sent off to another shop.

If you dont like there price and got a lower quote somewhere else just go to the other shop. We all know gears are expensive, we dont really want to hear about how you dont want to spend money

$2,300 for parts and labor didn't seem terribly unreasonable IMO. Do you have to give them cores or are you buying all new and keeping your old stuff?

It is not an insane price considering the 10 year warranty. Do the other shops also offer 10 years on their $1800 installed gears?

Why do you need to regear anyway? What size tires are you running?

Front and rear should be 1800-2400 depending on shops overhead, warranty and choice of gears. Some second gens require a new pinion yoke 27/28 spline, don't know which years off hand. When spending money on drivetrain mods it's always wise to consider the shop doing it first and the bottom line second, you don't want to be stuck with issues that you cannot fix yourself, if it was easy you would do it yourself.

Why so much? I get that there's two diffs to do, but when I drove mustangs, re-gears were around 400, parts and labor.

1450 would be tempting. Cheap enough to offset the incompetence, knowing it they might throw in a body lift for the troubles

If I was to do a re-gear, I'd use a race shop. One that builds big boy axles, cuts extra splines, and sets up RPs that work while lying in the dirt at the drag strip, then goes out and lays down a great number.

We're fortunate enough to have one here. I sent my boss there (always risky, right?) with a TransAm that was howling/leaking, and Pontiac had 'fixed' it twice under warranty. He was a happy man to have it fixed right. They knew exactly how to correct a factory defect.

I also sent another boss there with who had a broken diff in a high mileage F150 (thanks to a teenage son). They fixed him up for exactly 1/3 what he had a quote from Ford on. His son actually brought me a small present and thanked me for saving him so much money.

Anyway, point is you don't have to have a 4wd shop to do the work. But you do need someone who is excellent at differential work.
