A buddy of mine just bought an assembly for his tailgait from GMC for his Sierra. It had a lock that programmed to his key when he installed it. Does anybody have something like this for the best truck ever made?

I used two hose clamps one I got really tight and used a set of pliers to spin the part you screw in under the tail gate so you cant really get to it then another right next to it.. Me and my friends have a thing with stealing each others tailgates. This is what happens when you and a lot of your friends have the same truck.

    Still brand new.
Truck is no older than two weeks and I already have 2 on. I threw electrical tape under it just to make sure it doesn't scratch. Philly isn't always the friendliest of all cities so this is a must.

    Thanks for the help!!

It wont scratch.... cause the hinge is on the inside.. so When you put on the clamp your just blocking off the slot to get the inside hinge out

    If that makes sense.

Sorry I didn't read all 12 pages so I don't know if anyone suggested this.
If you don't think you will need to take the clamp and tailgate off frequently consider taking a Dremel tool with a grinder and round off the head of the clamp. Makes it that much harder to get the clamp off.
If you later need to remove it there is room to get a Dremel cutoff wheel in there to cut the clamp.

The EZ clamp is a 5 sided head. No wrench will fit it, except the one it comes with. Seems pretty secure, as I have never lost a tialgate when useing one. :)

I tried....I made a good one out of steel, and went above the clouds, and went pretty far, but scored little points, due to lack of aerobatic antics. :(

    im not following

i have a couple of ideas, first a set of washers on the detachable end of the cables, another an alarm pin like the ones on the hood, maybe a latch system also, or just get a damn tonneau as soon as i have $700 spare (not likely)

After reading this post, i ran outside to check the tailgate on my hilux...

The setup is similar but the tailgate cant be removed without tools.

Thanks for this post. Now I know I'll have to buy some clamps when I collect my Tacoma.

    secret stuff.
Searched Walmart, but all they had with the key in the RV section were really large diameter ones. Used the rubber band off a bunch of broccoli to keep the paint from getting tweaked when I put on the stainless clamp I got from West Marine, worked great and thanks!!
