Did mine today, here it is. Used a simple hose clamp from Pep Boys ($2.49/pair) and some water barrier used for shower installations at Home Depot. I wanted such a little piece and they sell it by the square foot that they just gave me a section.

I adapted the principals of the hose clamp mod, but I went with large black industrial strength zip ties. Two per side.

As far as I can tell they achieve the following:

    1. They make it difficult to remove the tailgate
    2. They blend in perfectly with the paint
    3. Will not scratch the paint
    4. Are very light
    5. Difficult to cut with dykes due to the limited space
    6. Should not decay (No direct UV exposure)

Another thanks to chris4x4! :) My local Wal Mart discontinued these clamps...ended up finding a great selection of them at Shucks Auto Supply.

I found a pair of clamps at Lowes for $1.73 and put them on pronto. Best $2 I've ever spent on a security mod.

I wrapped a piece of electrical tape around the tailgate part of the hinge (the C-shaped part), then installed the EZ-Clamp. Mine had a square peg drive, not the five-sided or three-sided drive. Odd!

^^^ Mine is four-sided too. Easier to get pliers around I guess but still a major deterrent because the angle is very awkward.

If there was ever an award for the best, cheapest, most brilliant mod ever on this site it goes to ... Chris4x4! :D
