4wd dash light blinking , 4wd not engaging

My 4x4 in my 2006 Tacoma was working fine the other day, today I got in the truck and the 4x4 light on the dash was blinking in 2wd , tried to engage it in every way didnt work, when I put it in 4 Lo no beep or 4lo light , and the dash light is constantly flashing .
No sounds come from the truck when I try anything
Checked the fuse by the left knee and replaced it and now I'm stuck truck has 62xxx miles

Check the 4X4 actuator black box located behind the transfer case, a lot of people report moisture/grime get inside. The fix is to remove the cover, clean it out, and solder the connections together as they are just free inside the actuator. There is a guide here somewhere.

Yea take it off and clean the inside really well, then solder those electrical connections on if you have the means, then seal the actuator back up to reduce dirt getting back in there.

I took off the entire a.d.d when I was changing my diff fluids and all the connections look good there was alot of water in it so I though that had to be it. Unfortuantly it wasn't and my dash light is still blinking and nothing is engaging

From the plug that connects to the outside of the actuator or the actuator itself

Apparently the design of the tacoma actuator is defective like mine is. My 2005 tacoma w/55000k is stuck in 4wd hi with light flashing 4lo. dealer wants $1600 to fix it. already spent $1700 on defective a/c. Dont think I will ever buy another.

It's annoying because the light is always blinking in 2hi nothing happens at all when I flip the switch to 4hi or 4lo

I'm going to check the connections to the t case actuator and after that I don't know what the F else to do

Where did you get the FJ transfer case from?

I dont mind cutting on the truck at all. Now welding...not my forte. Lol

IF anyone still has this problem it turns out it was the elecrical solenoid in the actuator, thats was fried even though it was still firmly connected , just in case anyone was wondering, took it to toyota and since my friend is a lot attendant it was 600 with parts and labor. not as bad as i though

Does anybody know if the actuator is covered under the 5 year 60k powertrain warranty?
