So this weekend I'm hoping to install a 10" fan on the front of my condenser on the passenger side. Having a black truck plus it sitting in the parking lot all day equals a not cold enough a/c vent temp on the in town drive home. I've seen one thread about it, but I'm gonna wire it to come on with the compressor and be able to turn on at all times in case of overheating(I know not too likely). And I'll be able to shut it off completely during the colder months. I ordered the fan today from summit and I'm gonna fab up some mounts. Hopefully have it done this weekend. Here's the fan I ordered...

Are you using any windshield sunshades such as these? I have the mylar version for my work van and they make a world of difference. I have this style for my Taco but like the mylar version better. They fold and unfold very easy and store in the pouch behind the passenger seat.

No. I'm actually gonna pick one up tomorrow while I'm at work. My coworker has something similar and he always raves about the difference. I got the fan today and mocked it up on another taco at work, seems like it won't be too bad. All I need is a switch and ill start the install. It would be funny if the sunshade made such a difference I didn't feel the need for the fan anymore.

Be interested to see pics of how and where you mount it as well as info on wiring, mine is a 4 door black taco, if you post positive feed back I may try it myself

So I mounted the fan tonight. It's secured in three spots with bushings at each to isolate any vibration. I'm just waiting on a switch from otrattw and ill hopefully have it wired this weekend.

FX retros, Blazer fog-light retro, JVC KW-NT30HD head unit, Pioneer 6X9's in front doors, Pioneer 6.5's in rear doors, two Pioneer 12" subs in sealed boxes, Sony X-Plod amp, Hidden Hitch trailer hitch, EGR window visors, two PIAA low-tone horns, Westin light bar with two 100-watt KC low profile driving lights.
I use EGR in-channel window visors and an aluminized sun shade. Leaving the windows open an inch and using the sun shade makes a HUGE difference, especially if you part in direct sun all day. Your aux condenser fan idea is nice though!

    Can ya spell Tonneau
Black DC here too, sounds like a good plan. I use the windshield blind, and it makes a huge difference initially, but doesn't do anything for a/c efficiency.

Might open up my sport skoop to let some of the heat out while parked. Ooh did I stumble upon a practical use for it?!

Let us know how the efficiency increases with this mod. I am very intrigued.

So after a few days of testing and driving to and from work and picking up my girl from preschool. I've come to the conclusion of about a 3-4 degree difference. At idle the vent temperature stays pretty consistent at about 45 degrees. I tested it with the blower motor at the 3rd highest setting. In the mornings its gotten to 39 degrees with ambiemt temp around 80, and that was my short drive tp work, about 10 minutes in town. So to be honest I was a little disappointed but oh well. Now I have an extra fan incase it gets crazy hot. Plus it sounds cool when I'm idling. In the future I may put another one on the other side but for now my mod bug has settled down a bit.

Yeah it does. I think my expectations were a little too high I was hoping for the effects of a non fan clutch system. But I don't think it was totally a waste of a weekend.

Why don't you run the fan off the AC compressor relay power? When the AC kicks on, the fan runs??

@adanfon , did the fan make a difference for blowing nice AC while sitting in traffic? Mine looses its gusto when its really hot out or off roading and moving slow. I am curious if you noticed a worth while difference?

Maybe? I wanna say yeah, but it could be the placebo affect. In retrospect I would of added 2.
