Emerg. flasher and turn signals go out but resets

06 4x4 TRD

My 06 Taco 4x4 lights/flasher short when trailer lights are plugged in. I let it sit overnight and they work. Second occurrance and I am suspecting the trailer. Is it normal for my Taco's flasher to kick out and reset? Where to begin the search?
