Took my camper shell off yesterday along with the quick connect that I clipped onto the rear tail light assembly for the camper shell third brake light. Used the little connecters that you place the wire by the other wire that you want power from and push the blade into them and crimp together.

Either way, after I took it off I noticed that my tail lights and dash lights were out. The 10 amp tail light fuse was blown. Went back and taped over where the quick connect was thinking it may be shorting out. Another blown fuse. Cut the wire, stripped it, respliced, and shrink wrapped. Blew another fuse. Disconnected the whole tail light assembly and it still blew. The fuses only pop when I turn on the headlight/tail lights.

Any one have an idea? Gotta leave tomorrow night for a 9 day vacation and really need my tail lights! Everything was fine before I removed the camper shell so I assume it has something to with that wiring.

    Thanks for any help!

Tape on the ash tray light wires had melted off in the Georgia heat. Had cut the light bulb out when I put my CB in. All is good now. Huge relief!

    Thanks for the help!

Hi there, I've also had a problem with blown tail light fuses lately. My camper shell light was destroyed in a car wash a few years ago and an electrician friend of mine capped it off. Currently my turn signals and backup lights work on both sides but neither brake light functions. The tail fuse on the interior panel has blown twice this week....on the way home from hot drives with A/C on. Do I need to disconnect the camper shell wiring entirely?

If you can be sure the problem lies in the camper shell.

The AC and Fan the nearest the light circuit comes is the lights in the HVAC panel.

Using the AC and Fan on High should not effect your lights
