Suggestions before posting for help in Tech Chat

I am not sure if this is sticky worthy, though it is a good idea for everyone who considers posting a question to read this and use its advise.
Please understand that this is just to help YOU and those who wish to help in finding results faster.

When posting a request for help it would be helpful to all of us if you would include the following information:

Year:
Make:
Model:
(including if Pre-runner, SR5, TRD, etc)
Engine size:

On top of this basic information it would be VERY helpful to include:

Is a lift installed:
Aftermarket components:
(this means ANY changes from factory parts including AIR intake, CAC intake, headers, Supercharger not factory? Include this)
Is there an alarm system installed: (not one that is ACTIVE, but are the wires still wired up under the dash?)
When did you first notice the problem?:
How often does it occur?:
What have you ALREADY replaced to try and fix it?:
Have you checked codes?:
(If so, list ALL of the codes, not just the ones you believe are important)

I have to be honest here and say that there have been a few times I have passed up commenting on a request for help because someone posted something akin to:
"My truck stalls. Whats wrong with it?" followed by a bump a half hour later by the op.

Filling in all of the important information helps those of us why truly enjoy helping everyone in being able to try to come up with suggestions that will get your truck fixed and back on the road faster. It would also be helpful if when posting one uses proper punctuation and not have a paragraph consist of 40 sentences.

Thanks for your time. I hope these ideas get used. If anyone else has some suggestions on important information post a reply and I will add them to the list above.

Need Help on these 2 engine codes

I have a 2010 2.7L Taco "base cab" 4x4 5spd manual that came with a bench seat, and I did the bucket swap. Yes I read all I could find here on this site and thought I did it all step by step. I even changed out the bench seat wiring harness and PC modules from the bench seat to work on the bucket seats. Then I did the "resistor" install on both passenger side and driver side "YELLOW" wire for the side air bags. I hooked everything up and connected the battery and "WAH LAH" air bag light stays on. I can get into the passenger seat and the air bag system info under the radio says Air bag on when I sit in the pass seat. I'm like what the HECK !! So I do the OBD-II scan and get these two codes B-1821 and B-1826 meaning left-side and right-side system failure or whatever it said like that. I then canceled the codes and ran another scan, and "WAH LAH" same stupid thing.
Someone please point me in the right direction.

Oh, my truck says TRD all over the bed, someone here says "NO" it's not a TRD cause it's a base cab 4cyl. So I don't know about that one either.

Forgive the long post just wanted to clear up the fact that I did do what some of the guys n gals here said to do and it didn't work or I Screwed something up.

Thanks, Les

My '06 PreRunner V6 Auto emits a lot of "ticking, clicking" sounds when driving off from a cold start in the morning. No fans or equipment is operating. Just had it six months, so don't have a track record from which to draw. As soon as engine temp is up, all funny noises go away and I forget about 'til the next morning.

Not sure if I'm posting in the right area, but would appreciate any tips.

Just solved an extremely-poor experience with a "powder-coater" in a unique fashion. He sandblasted my rusted belly pan and hitch assembly, instead of bead-blasting, leaving a surface unsuitable for paint. Body shop advised trying Rhino coating, and I am happy to report the parts are spectacular. For their locations below the beltline, it is the best possible coating, impervious to any sort of road hazard. I am so pleased with the PC error, I almost feel like thanking him...if we were still speaking.

Now, I'm considering coating the oval step rail on my silver Extended Cab with Rhino. Does anyone know how to remove the step pads (two/side) without destroying them. To do a good coating job, the pads must be removed and then replaced. Removing an end cap and looking up the tunnel, I can see multiple plastic
retainers in two, different colors...but too far down the pipe to reach with any tool I own. Has anyone experience in removing the pads?

You're getting close to the 5,000 mile oil change interval is what's going on.

I would consider this a thread about rules regarding tech chat.

Maybe i'm wrong, but I think this thread should be reserved for talk about the Original post, not about a separate issue.

Perhaps I am wrong ?
