Steering Wheel (Odd Outlines)

This is probably a stupid question, so I apologize ahead of time. My steering wheel has these odd outlines in the center where the airbag is. It just doesnt look right to me, I assume its related to the airbag but I guess I'm just curious if they are all that way. Anyone know what I'm referring to??

Those are the lines where the plastic is perferrated on the other side. In the event of deployment, the airbag would rip the plastic at these points. Manufacturers put them on the outside on older models, but now they are trying to hide them. Unfortunately it pulls a little bit at the plastic under the pressure. That strains the plastic and causes the lines that you see. I have them too.

At least on my 07 DC you can also see a slight outline on the passenger side where the airbag will rip through the plastic. I hadn't noticed it on my steering wheel until you guys brought it up.

There are also some spots on the sides of the air bag area where the steering wheel controls would be, if you had that option. It's normal.
