The solenoid acts as an unloader, blowing off head pressure, to extend the life of the compressor. The check valve is a one way valve so it doesn't blow off all the pressure in the ("tank"). No tank, just the plumbing and hose.

Any who I have this kit http://www.airhornsoftexas.com/coll...ducts/ft-kit-emergency-firetruck-air-horn-kit from Texas air horns. I took the compressor off the tank for easier mounting. I have the compressor mounted behind the right tail light just above the cubbie with the plug. The tank is mounted below the cubby hanging from the bed. System works great I will take pix when I can; horn bad a$$

Now my question is that I got another tuffy storage box to go where the half cubby/electrical plug is and when I slid the box in it hits the compressor and tank. Does anybody have any suggestions where to relocate the tank and compressor without removing the spare tire? The plug is disabled; and is worthless anyways, perfect slot for more secure storage

Dan, get the pics up. I'll try to get you some realistic feed back. I moved my tank being my tow hitch all the way up touching the bed. Spare tire still fit there with no issues. My compressors are in the spot I showed before, behind the tail lights. with the heads all the way at the top of the bed.

one sec - what about putting the compressor on the taillight bulkhead like I did. Mount the tuff box then re check clearances? Look at the first post for a pic.

edit. Ahhhh. you DID. now it hits.....

Ok. make a mounting bracket and mount it in the same location, just horizontal above the box. you can still use the bulkhead as a mounting point for the horizontal bracket. The other side, use a hole or two from the new mounting tough box as the other mounting hole for a plate.

    Back from the dead...

So I had to buy a Cheetah to seat my 16.5" surplus 37s. I feel like it was kinda a waste of $200 so I'm thinking I should find another use for it and a way to keep it with the truck in case I need it on a trail. I also have a Masterflow compressor. Can anyone tell me what I would need as far as fittings and pressure switches to turn this thing into an OBA tank?

    The tank in question:

Take the fill valve and 90°off. Put a 3 way there instead. Put the tank on one side of it, check valve and fill valve on one side and a quick disconnect female connector on the other

So about $5 in fittings at the local hardware store and some air hose.

The variation of male or female fittings would be the only wild card

Okay that's pretty much what I was thinking. Isn't there a pressure cutoff switch I can plumb in also? I was thinking to remove the pressure gauge and T in there with gauge on one side and the switch on the other. I'll just attach the switch with a 2wire weatherpack connector so it can quick release.

    Is that a viable plan?

Yep. Or use a 4 way instead of the 3 way. The 4 way would be a bit of a hazzard when using the cheetah though. The 3 way on the pressure gauge might be the ticket.

Another thought though, to minimize things on the tank. Use the pressure cutoff on the out port for the airline off the tank.

Like this - male quick disconnect- 3 way brass coupler - air hose - off the 3rd part on the top of the 3 way, pressure cutoff switch.

That way when you disconnect the tank, the cutoff switch is already detached with the airline. Now, you can attach the hose and cutoff switch to the compressor with the quick disconnects and still be in business. You just removed the tank from the equation and maintained functionality of the air system.

If you already have a relay in the line this switch is perfect. Nice and compact unlike the huge box i see a lot of people use. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002AYJUXW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Would 2 Viar 444C compressors and a 2.5 gallon tank be considered overkill for a taco? Its made for 40" tires, with the following fill times.

    37" x 12.5"
    Fill Rate
    0 to 30 PSI 3 min. 50 sec.
    15 to 30 PSI 1 min. 55 sec.

So I figured if I got 32" tires it would be a breeze to inflate. Or would the 40amp max draw kinda kill me electrically? any help appreciated.
