It is not uncommon for a traction failure to result in a CEL, or a CEL code resulting in a trac off condition. They both work hand in hand. If it comes back I would suggest reading the code and getting it diagnosed.

Top of my head every vehicle I've owned with traction control turns on both lights at the same time, at least every time it's happened to me.

You didn't mention the code but by the gas cap comment I'm guessing it was P0456 (evap leak). Like BamaToy said, see what it does the next few days..

Thanks guys, you were a huge help. My wife took it to the dealer on the 5th. I should of waited, $44 later she was told to tighten the gas cap. that will be the first thing I look at from now on.

BE WARNED!!! I had the same issue that occurred around March 2013. I had it checked at OReillys and it was P0456 (small evap leak): no big deal. I took it to the shop a day or 2 later to have them see where the leak was...they couldnt find it and sold me a new gas cap (88$) and said itll fix it. I drove and the next day, BAM! same light, 88$ wasted. I took it back, they couldnt figure it out. Now its OCT2013, tell them hey, its still on, i dont notice any driving difference performance wise, but I would like to know whats wrong. They smoke test it, dont find any leaks, check the ECU, REFLASH THE ECU! to clear the system, says it should take care of it. ON THE WAY HOME it comes back on, like a slap in the face. I take it back, they tell me the charcoal canister needs replaced, I say ok. 130$ later they say its fixed. Works for 2 days, and the light is back on and continues to be on to this day. I called back and they contacted Toyota and told them the problem, they have no solution yet but said its being looked into. Keep diving into it so they see its more people with the problem so they take it more seriously and find a solution. Im waiting for a TSB to come out. Hope this helps you, and everyone else with this problem.
