Long time reader, first time poster so here we go...

Started my 2006 4.0 V6 Taco this morning, turned over slow, when it fired up idled very slow & rough with pinging, shut it off immediately. Oil level good and trans fluid good (no burnt smell), no oil in coolant. Did notice strong burning rubber smell, so I've narrowed it down to one of the pulleys is frozen up, also further evidenced by black dust around the pulleys/serp belt. I loosed the tensioner, only pulleys that didn't move were the Crank, A/C and Alternator, I'm assuming the alternator is frozen up? Anyone had this issue?

I was going to ask if you washed and left it outside... Then looked ur in florida lol. Thats a weird scenario alternator shot, crank wont turn freely and same for ac. Alternator should.
    Oh and welcome yo tw!:)

AC and alternator should spin freely. Keep in mind the pulley on the AC compressor will spin, not the clutch on the front. If your alternator doesn't spin, that's bad news.

Well, just went out, had the wife crank it, it cranks (won't start) and all pulleys are spinning, so not a seized up pulley it appears, now I'm wondering what it was, not good whatever, hopefully nothing electrical.
