Unhappy Speedo & tach drop to zero

I have a 2000 TRD that has had this problem since I bought it new. It has increased in frequency and duration over the years. Now nearing 100k. Only one other person has actually seen it, but she is not a mechanic. lol. I'll be driving along, when all of the sudden, the tach and speedo drop to zero, the odometer display goes out as does the cruise control. Fuel & Temp guages are not affected. Then they just come back on, sometime in a few minutes, other times after several days. The check engine light comes on (sometimes), but then goes off. Never had a chance to get it read. Every time I had a mechanic look at it, it wasn't happening. They think I'm crazy. Anybody else seen/heard of this? Thanks!

Check out the speed sensor connection under the truck. Make sure there is no broken wires.

i have the exact same problem, the code is the speed sensor but i don't know where it is. I'm hoping its a loose wire because the new speed sensors are pretty expensive.
