This morning I got out in my truck and start to leave the driveway and I notice that it feels like I have no power steering... I had an older jeep without it once so I remember how that feels..sucky... I immediately park back under the carport and notice red fluid EVERYWHERE. I had a trail from where I backed up, switched to drive, and started to pull away.. The transmission shifted fine. It didnt hesitate to go into drive, reverse or anything.. So I popped my hood and the power steering is completely empty. I do believe thats what it is but I wanted to be sure because it is a red color.

So I took it to the shop and they said that my power steering rack was completely vertical... Like I had been in a huge wreck or went offroading really hard.. They were as puzzled as I was when I said that I had driven it to walmart last night with no issues.. They said there was no way that I wouldn't have noticed this before hand.. The total cost they said is 1300.. Out of no where this happened. Can you guys make anything of this? Is this a fair price of labor?

    Possibly:
Random vehicle saavy criminals sabotaging vehicles?
    Ghosts?
Karma for ordering my bushwackers with my tax return instead of donating to charity?

Maybe someone tried to jack up the truck to steal the wheels and they placed the jack under the rack? then it snapped, the truck dropped, and they bolted?

Or maybe someone wanted your steering rack instead of paying the dealer $1300.

Got a picture of the rack? Otherwise it's pure guessing.
