Hello! My dealership has had difficulty finding out why my Tacoma has the check engine light on. Having checked the system with my code reader, it came up with P0136. This means there is a "sensor circuit malfunction." Specifically, it is an air/ fuel corruption. Any ideas as to why the dealership cannot/ does not want to help me? How can I fix this problem and turn off my check engine light for good? Thanks!

Oxygen O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage-bank 1 sensor 2. Could have been a misfire or bad gas. Id reset and not worry about it. If it comes back on try replacing that sensor.

What year? If its new, I would reset it and write it off as a fluke.

I replaced both O2 sensors and completed a drive cycle and code still pops up. The sensors were caked with black smoke residue. What else could it be? Please Help!

Is that the only current code? Read the Long term fuel trim if possible, this will give you an idea of what's going on.

get the codes pulled. Battery light usually comes on when the battery is going out or gone and or the alternator might be going out or gone.

I used to get O2 sensor codes on my 2000 Tacoma. Turned out to be the MAF sensor being grimed up with air filter oil from my K&N. I removed it and cleaned it with carb cleaner, reinstalled it, then removed negative battery terminal to reset and everything was good. Then I cleaned the K&N air filter and used a lot less filter oil. I hope this works for you.

Understood. I was replying to the original post of the O2 sensor code. I just looked at the original post again and it was from 7 years ago!!! Hahaha. Oh well, I am sure they have it figured out by now!

ARB 3'' lift, ARE canopy, 265/75/16 All Terrain KO2, after market stereo, ECGS differential bushing, ARB Deluxe front Bumper, Warn M8000 winch, custom winch control box install, FrontRunner Slimline canopy rack,
They make MAF cleaner. I would use it rather than carb cleaner especially since it's electronic.
