AC problems no light/ Clutch wont engage?

    My AC went out I little while into summer the AC control button doesn't even light up.
    Its always pushing engine temp air through the vents even then I have the fan set in the off position.
    and lastly I did try to plug the AC pro cans to recharge the system but the can read that the system was full.
    Can anyone shed some light on this I'm hoping it could just be a faulty wire
