Just a few pics of the install of my Icom IC-706MKIIG.

    Control Head location

The radio mounting location, behind the passenger side rear seat. We have the back seat down all the time, so no over heating issues.

Antenna location. I didn't want to install into the roof of the truck, and limit the amount of drilling in the truck itself.

Coax cable routing from the antenna. I had no extra coax that came with the Larsen install kit. I would have routed a little different, but in the long run it turned out ok.

Power line routing under the hood.

So there you have it.....yet another radio installation.....I know, yawn, right? :D

    Not boring to me

Nice, clean wiring job (something I'm not good at). What are you using to secure the antenna cabling?

In the bed of the truck, I used a 1" x 1" adhesive mounting base like below and zip tied to those.

Nice install! What kind of bracket did you use for the antenna mount?

Nice job there. That location for the control head is the same one I used for a Kenwood TM-D710. I mounted the radio on the back side of the center console. The rear seats are down all the time, so I just ran the antenna coax under them and drilled a hole in the back seat plastic panel and ran it up to the roof.

Have a public service radio in the center console and used the same routing for its antenna.

Some day I might try to get my IC-706 in there. I guess I'll go with a screwdriver antenna for HF.

BTW, that storage pocket on the right hand side of the steering wheel, under the dash is a great place to stow the microphone.
