    Hey Guys,

I just did my first oil change after replacing the original drain plug with a fumoto. My truck currently sits at 60k miles. I poured the oil from my pan into a 5qt jug and it barely gets to 5qts including the oil filter and catch can from the oil filter. I put in 5.5 qt. since thats what the manual calls for (didn't check the oil from the pan till after).

You think its okay to run the truck, oil stick looks at full but I can't really tell definitely. Is this partially due to the fumoto valve since the threads may stick above the lowest point of the pan? Do you think its okay for me to drive say 5k miles before I do another oil change( I use synthetic and would change at 10k but this makes me uncomfortable and since ill changed at 5k regardless). Just wondering if I should do this oil change again.

Some of your oil goes through the pcv and gets burned through the intake and some in the cylinders.

It's normal to see a little less than 5.5 quarts of oil get drained after a 5k run.

Just for kicks, one you drain the oil from the valve, unscrew the valve to see how much more really gets held up in there behind the threads.

Yeah I planned on doing that after a couple oil changes but yeah this may warrant me to do it now

When I sold my 2008 Tacoma, I pulled the fumoto valve off to install on my new truck. A few ounces of oil came out, but not enough to worry about.
