The compass/temperature display in my 2007 TRD has been out some time and I really miss it. I understand this outage is quite a common occurrence. I found some otherwise really helpful tutorials on how to fix it but none really say which resistors to buy to replace them:

    http://www.mdpub.com/compass/index.html

    http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/6...out-tacoma-temp-compass-overhead-display.html

Can anybody shed some light on which resistor(s) to buy and where to buy them? Also, if you know of any other more comprehensive instruction pages for the repair, that would be great.

Also have an 07. I just opened mine up and resoldered the resistor. It was sticking up on one end and was really easy to find. Has been working for years now. I have the warranty replacement sitting in a box should it ever fail again.

One of the articles I posted says don't use a pistol-style iron but a lower duty one like a pencil style. Which one did you use?

I've got the pencil type. It's an old Weller brand that was probably built in the 70s.
