Looking for a better than stock option for the truck, I checked all the usual brands. Wanting something proportional the the vehicle and accessories that have been installed, the research began.

Had some thoughts on a little MATH when considering the upgrade.
BBK now, vs upgrading or replacing OEM side pads and rotors, possibly the TRD Offroad Calipers -
$2k-$4k depending on kits from various manufactures for a BBK
~$1500 ? TRD OR 4 Piston Calipers, EBC Pads and Rotors (X-Runner Reference for the calipers)

For me, would have been closer to the 500 mark for the pads rotors. Spend the money right the first time and there is no looking back. Didn't want to upgrade the pads and rotors then turn around and spend the money AGAIN on the gear I really wanted. So I made it work.

EBC came into my scope, but I really wanted a BBK due to the additional 504# of unsprung weight my truck now had after the addition of my 20" Spyderlock Bead Lock wheels and 35x12.50r20 Goodyear Wrangler MTR-K Tires.

Some back and forth with Various companies and Rotora stood out with a proven history of great products and outstanding customer service.
The anticipation was killing me with the wait. We sometimes forget that hand built and special order items take time. Quality control is a big thing for any company and Rotora was no exception to the rule.

Packaging was awesome. Never have I received suck an innovatively designed product with matching packaging.
Install was a breeze for me. I glanced over the instructions to see if there was anything different about this install. Nope, simple. The part that will ultimately intimidate the masses is the removal of the dust shield for the brakes. Having replaced my bearings before, that was something I intentionally left out over a year ago in preparation for the oncoming Big Brake Kit.

Now for the Pics - There are many and if anyone has questions, please ask away. There are a ton of meets I am at all over the country. If you want to see or drive the truck, let me know. We can see if our paths are close and make arrangements.

Better pics to come of the truck with them on after this week.

Over the recent weeks there were a couple equipment failures and things on the truck that I needed to take care of but life got in the way. I have known for some time that the breaks needed to be upgraded. Towed a vehicle back from Delaware, and really noticed my breaks were lacking. Then a pad just disintegrated and breaking was treacherous for the rest of the trip with a vehicle almost the same weight as mine in tow.

Plan is to do a complete break system flush and put in DOT 4 fluid. Then install these monsters as I get them in hand.

    No more break fade.

URD supercharger kit and the additional weight of all the armor, gear and family will have me in a position where the safety is even a larger concern. This helps with that. The build is not complete yet and many things are still in the works. Some things move up the priority list faster than others based on failures and other circumstances.

    This was one of them.

Something else came out of this venture of research too. Keep that channel locked. !

Does Brembo not make a kit for our trucks? Could have sworn I read that they did somewhere...

Yes. Yes it should. There is a 380mm (15") and a 355mm (14") from Rotora. Might be a 340mm (13.4") too. Stoptech has the 340 for sure.

Our stock tacoma are a 318.7mm (12.55") - so I would just measure to be sure. Something of note though. The Aftermarket Calipers are much lower profile than the stock. That alone will help with clearance.

Here is a great link for fitment and recommendations. Also, there is a printable template to cutout so you can measure. According to the link, 17" is the recommended minimum.

    http://www.stoptech.com/technical-support/bbk-wheel-fitment-templates

    355 fitment http://www.stoptech.com/docs/default-source/wheel-fitment-templates/98-866-2470-00

    332 fitment http://www.stoptech.com/docs/default-source/wheel-fitment-templates/98-866-2450-00

I had hands on with the kit. Like StopTech, just thought that the 2 piece design was superior and the addition of another pair, 6 in total, of pistons would be better.

Form what I saw, there was only the one size kit. We have a 4 piston already on the TRD OR.

Anyone done a Master Cylinder upgrade on a 2nd gen? Great time to do it. I'll be up to my eyes in fluid already.

Ah, I see now. they have different colors. So you are saying get a couple of each and keep adding until the colors come out the opposite end. No difference in the fluids? just color I assume?

Hmm, well you can still get it direct from Germany on eBay. I guess every other fluid change will just be a little more expensive for me lol...if I go that route.
