I have a 2012 that I would like to disable just the VSC system while keeping the ABS working. I have seen the disabke ABS switch and understand they as a side effect it also kills the VSC.

I am also aware that I can hold down the VSC button for 5-8 seconds but I am looking for something more permanent without the need to hold down the button everytime I drive.

Has anyone tried to disrupt the ground path to the yaw sensor?

id imagine that would throw a code, but its worth a try.

If I was going to mod it up - I'd take the approach of setting up an automatic switch that was the electronic equivalent of pushing and holding the VSC-disable switch for five seconds when the engine started.

That's pretty much the only approach that won't throw a code.

Curious what the advantage of the disablement is?

I mean apparently you're wanting to do so full time as opposed to the temporary method...........

I could do this easily with a tr-7 module.

After my lift and several tries at recalibrati g the yaw sensor for the change in rack and height of my truck. My VSC system freaks out in moderate Turing situations and tries to pull me into oncoming traffic.

If I am unable to resolve the issue by having my dealer inspect the system I would like to disabke the VSC system but keep ABS. If at all possible.

Having seen the FJ and 4Runner mods that accomplish this. I would think it would be possible in the Tacoma. And having come from the LS world I can't believe more guys (read any) aren't digging around in the ECU and disabling what ever they want.

    Sorry.

LS engine family. Gen III Vortec motors in newer GM cars, trucks and anything with frame rails swapped in.

As I understand it - Toyota obfuscates their ROMs so they can't be reprogrammed in the aftermarket.

Dealer can reset/re-calibrate the VSC and ABS system. You're supposed to have this done anytime you change tire size if I remember correctly. There is a procedure to do it yourself but maybe the dealer will have better luck?

Read the second post/pdf of this thread if you haven't already.

    Good luck OP.

If you read the post you quoted you wil see he has recalibrated the VSC

Yeah, I caught that afterwards. Hopefully the dealer method might work.

I wonder how much lift/tire he has on his truck. Lots of guys on here 6" in the air with 33 or 35 inch tires and no problems. It'd be interesting to know.

It does look like a TR-7 is made-to-order for the task. :)
