I just took delivery on a 2015 Tacoma Pre-runner, double cab, 4 cylinder, SR5 and a few extras. One of my extras was the the OEM stainless steel running boards from Toyota. They look great except they are way to high to be functional as a step. They should be down about 4-6 inches. I had a 2011 Tundra with oem running boards and their height was perfect.

I am currently working with the dealer, but so far there is nothing they can do as the brackets do not have adjustable holes and there are no other brackets available from Toyota. Their latest comment is that "the height is a federal regulation" which I think is BS.

I have not been able to find any other brackets or mod kits on the internet to lower the height. The OEM brackets are an odd shape and do not lend themselves to additional spaces, etc.

Has anyone successfully lowered their boards?
