The power steering is failing. It's hard to turn when I first start driving then it gets a little better but not perfect. It is progressily getting worse. I don't know where to start to troubleshoot it

Sounds like morning sickness aka a bad rack and pinion. The seals are leaking internally when cold but when the rack warms up some seals get better.
