what would you do with your truck?

im curious to know, with the above options given with the truck you currently have and some money and time to work with, what would you choose?

 

If engine mods is all you REALLY want to do.. i would just do N/A with stock motor

No offense intended, but ... It's kinda senseless to answer such a question without knowing what you intend to do with the truck. If you're going to race (or just want more power) forced induction makes sense. Forced induction is essentially wasted on a daily driver.

If you want more overall cruising power the 1UZ swap makes a lot of sense, but it's probably the most expensive overall option for racing.

If you're serious about racing performance, though, the best option is probably the one you didn't mention - a 2JZ swap.

But in all seriousness, if you wanna race...you can't just stop at horsepower.
Buy a car or vehicle that's more suited for racing.

OR

If you gotta soup up the tacoma, be prepared to spend tons of money. Aside from engine upgrades, you're gonna need brake upgrades, suspension/handling upgrades, & transmission/clutch upgrades - to name a few.

 

i wanna supercharge my 2.7L not because i want to race, but because i want my truck to be able to make it up hills and add some more power to the rear. if i had a 3.4L then i wouldnt do anything except basic upgrades and what not

Put a v 8 in her. My mechanic is confrigating a motor & trany as we speak for my truck.Its a 350 chevy motor.He is good at putting things together and makin them work.He also has dragsters that he built to race with.Is a top notch mechanic.Hope he can do it soon .he says there are a lot of things that have to be done to accomindate the set up.Its not just putting a motor & trany .its upgrades to except the things that have to be done.Lots of things to do .Its not cheap to o either .be prepared to spend some bucks

 

The 1UZ with VVTi or whatever puts out around 300 hp and tq.

Same, or more, power than a blown 5ve, PLUS V8 rumble, choice is obvious

 

Add floatation and put a jet drive on it. Then you could use if for driving, river boating, and fishing.

 

2JZ Twin Turbo Supra Engine.

 

In a perfect world I would put the new 4.6L Tundra V8 in a Tacoma. 310hp!

 

OR... 2JZ tuned out to put down over 1000 hp

 

I chose to sc my 3rz it makes a good overall daily driver. Makes passing fun and I can drive it like I stole it or drive like a human. I love my Tacoma because I can (and did) modify it to make it "mine". Supercharger, cams, CAI, header, custom exhaust, 5th injector with piggy backs. Yes I have spent a few pennies but it is mine and not exactly like anyone elses.

 

I would do nothing to the engine. I cant keep the tires from spinning as it is.
