Tie Down Straps

I know this may be an odd question, but what brand is recommended for tie down straps. I have owned various ones from the ones at Walmart to ones at Home Depot. Most times they have failed and snapped even under minimal load. Most times they snap due to the rubbing of the strap against a corner. I just want to find a set that I know will last and can be trusted on a long trip. Maybe more the question should be what material should the strap be made out of? Any guidance its much appreciated.

one thing i would recommend is to get ratchet straps over the simple easy tie down ones...makes a big difference in holding thigs in place

That's a good question. I'll be interested in hearing responses. I bought some el-cheapos at AutoZone just so I'd have something, but now I'm thinking I should just go pull the boy scout manual out of the attic and re-learn to tie knots (ok, ok, I'll probably be lazy and just google for knot tying websites). Plain rope is a whole lot cheaper.

well been using this for about 30 years and never had any trouble ;-D

I bookmarked that very site just the other day. Just gotta pull out some rope and practice.
