so the light came on and i had it scanned at a friend's shop, it was the code for the gas cap pressure senser being broken, didn't replace it immediatly but 2 days later the light went out. It hasn't come back on or anything now should i still replace my gas cap or could it have maybe just been a faulty code trip?

Drive it till it comes on again, if it doesn't then it probably was just your gas cap not being on properly and since you got gas and it went off you may have fixed it. If it comes on again take it to the dealer.
