Is there any mod or OEM installation for a switch that activate the differential lock on a 4x4, must of the time this kind of features can be "activated" if the proper OEM part or MOD part is installed, I know that al cabling is there but no switch if at the time of buying was not requested.

    Any info?

    Thanks for your help.

PS: I have a 4X4 TRD Sport Package, is it needed?

My understanding, not having taken two apart just to see, is that the diff lock is not just a switch, but a different differential all together. Unless you're planning on playing in some serous mud or snow, or pulling stumps up (like me :D) than the limited slip should be fine.

If you really want to go for it, I'd start calling junk yards and find a trd offroad and pull the diff and switch to put on yours. Most of those type mods I've done in the past have been consistent with the "the wiring's there" approach but there have been a few that use a different wiring harness or at least an extension of the base model's wiring.

Anyone know where you can get a complete wiring diagram for the Tacos?

Not exactly sure what you're asking....

If you have the SPORT package - you have a limited slip differential which is working all the time (no switches needed).

If you want a fulltime locker similar to what the TRD Offroad package has that utilizes a switch to turn it on or off..... You need to change out your entire differential carrier and setup gears.

You can't have a limited slip differential at the same time as having a fulltime locker.

Thanks for all your help, both answers covers my doubts of why some TACOMA models has a switch to activate this feature. You never know where and when you will need all that power or features, but I'm not really looking for it, but I least I know is there.

    Best Regards.

Thanks Sschulz. Downloaded it last night and burned it to disc this morning.
