Has anyone heard about the new castrol edge motor oil, they mentioned that it's 8x better than mobile 1. I have been using mobil 1 for years, on my first car and now my truck. I'm not really sold with this. Has anyone switch or tried it?

Castrol edge is an extended service oil. Mobil 1 recommends changing at the manufacturers recommended interval, while castrol edge allows for drain intervals of up to 15k. If you like Mobil 1, stick with it. Especially if you are a 3-5k OCI guy.

I have used Mobil 1 for about 2 years. It makes my truck run great. So, I do not plan on switching over.

If you want to look at it that way, all oils are made from the same "stuff" (hydrocarbons) who cares if the company owns the well or not?

Not sure of your source on Castrol as a pure "marketing" company, but it's entirely untrue. Castrol is BP Lubricants, one of the largest worldwide manufacturers of oils and lubes, operating in 70 countries.

Either way, it's not important because most of us stick to the recommended 5k mile change interval, and have no need for the amped additive package in castrol edge to go 15k between changes. Mobil 1 is an excellent oil and if that's what you like, stick with it.
