Did you use Max-Gear? what weight? Did it take the gear rattle out? How well did it work in very cold weather?

Max Gear is the Royal Purple product for 05-09 Tacoma manual transmission w/ 4 cylinder which calls for 80-90 weight. No Gear rattle.....you must have a earlier Tacoma. Which RP product did you use? I believe the RP Syncromax product is for manual trans that uses a atf consistancy fluid.

Why 80W in the rear?

Wrong.
The '09 calls for 75W90 API GL5 in diffs and T-Case, GL4 or 5 okay in manual trans.

Each dealer may be different. The dealer I bought my truck from said they participated in the Mobil-1 program, so everything they had was Mobile-1.

I also got to see how they have pipes attached to the ceiling that were distributed all over the work bays for the various types of liquids and lubricants. Each mechanics station/work bay had one of these systems.

Like this:

With any large distribution system it made me question the purity of the delivered product. At least I know when I buy it from the store my 5.5 quarts will be pure and not have any contaminants that could be introduced with a large distro system like my dealer had. It is probably fine though and I plan on having my first oil change at the dealer since its free.

Just a critical thought.
