Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
u have to pinch in the tabs on the sides of the glove box, remove the dampener if its even on, and then the glove box can fold all the way down

I just checked the condition of my filter, i get the glove box down, pull the 2 tabs on the box behind off and flip the cover down AND THERE IS NOTHING THERE! I am able to see the motor inside the box on the bottom. Is it gone? Is it a tray-like filter that slides in there?

well check the shippin to ur area, that one from A to Z was only about 9 bucks shipped to me.looks just like the one from toyota to me, i mean i dont think its special or any better. i typed logical_source.com in my address bar and nothing comes up. how do u get there?oh i got it, hmm that looks like the same company, get it there if its cheaper .
heres what i find about it
TYC's line of cabin air filters has OE-comparable design and comprehensive coverage for most domestic and import vehicles. Filters are offered in one of two configurations to provide superior performance with a precise fit: Particle Filter (single-stage) and Combination Filter (with additional carbon layer to remove odor). When replaced on a recommended interval of every 12,000 miles, the filter protects passengers by eliminating nearly 100 percent of exhaust pollutants and airborne contaminants, and enables peak operating efficiency of the vehicle's HVAC system, according to the company.

I pulled mine out yesterday. There was pinestraw and leaves etc. in it... but I just bumped it off and put it back in. Next time I think to go buy advanced autoparts I'll pick up another filter.

jtaco, where can I find one of those Combination Filters?

So i just called Toyota to see why my filter is missing..i just had my truck serviced a week ago so i thought i would try the "you stole my filter!" deal.

Apparently this was an "option" on the 2005 tacoma's and mine is not equipped. They say i need to buy the filter, AND the tray that it sits in. Does this sound accurate?

i dunno i looked everywhere for that combo filter that tyc says they have, maybe contact them if u can find their number, and i actually bought mine for 3.62 from atoz and receipt showed that second site up there with there model number on it "TOTACFAU." im pretty sure they are the same site.they add handling fee and insurance fee. which still comes out cheap. i dunno. all u gotta do is slide it in there, mine looks exactly the same in there, on my 07 i just got.

i called them(tyc) today asked about that combo filter, and they said they only make what is equivelant to the oem (the particulate) , if they(toyota) made them(thecombo) that u could get , then tyc would make it too to replace.. the combos only are made for ones that are already in production.
