Added to the TOC in the first post.

Edit:
errrr, it would've been but it seems that post is too long... If/when Bob changes that I'll add it.

Edit2:
Bob works fast! Limit is upped, and TOC is updated.

Yeah, that would be kinda nice too, but I'm lazy. Although, I probably have the right parts laying around the office here and since it's my last day I should grab them while I can.

So are these LED's really that much brighter than the stock bulbs? I'd like to get the ones that are a true white light. I really want to do this but I don't want to get them & find out they are not that bright, thanks!

the map lights are for sure brighter, the dome light that I got was a little to small (only had 4 leds) the one i recomended has 6 in it and should be brighter as well. I know they offer several different colors. I went with the cool white and it has a bit of a blue hue to it. but I am very pleased with the results

Filters

All,

Tonight I removed the 2nd air filter and removed a intake cover that make the tacoma recieve air from the rear of the wheel well. I also had to vacuum a huge amount of junk from the incabin filter. The fan is easy to vacuum as well for those of us with fan noise "tick". The glove box shock was a pain in the ass but you put it on bottom first. Thats the secret.
Hope everyone gets some use from this. As far as a gain well I need to post that tommorow.

Clint

Just pop open the air filter box like you're checking/replacing the air filter. On the engine side there's a second filter. Looks like this: (not my pic, mine's been out almost 2 years now)

It's held in with plastic melt rivets (or whatever they're called). Just cut them off, drill them out or pry the filter off. Just make sure you don't get any debris in the intake.

The best mod for the shock is to just remove that pathetic waste of differential pressure.

why not just tap into the trailer harness or one of the reverse light wires and add a relay?

You could do that, but here in NY I have a hard time getting relays to last more than a year. Salt and sand corrode them so being protected by the tail light seemed better.

Not to mention:
  1. It's 2 bolts for the tail light. Not that hard, and the wires are easily identifiable.
  2. Do you know offhand which wire runs the trailer reverse lights without testing or finding a wire diagram?
  3. Didn't have to cut back/unwrap trailer harness to find wire to splice into.
  4. And most importantly: This mod works for people without the tow package. Since they may offroad, plow, or just want extra light while backing up too.

Maglite makes a wall mount bracket, and there are similar mounts out there you can find.

I lined up the brackets, drilled through the plastic side panel on the seat, and used 2 5/8" rivets to mount each one.

As I herd a lot about these mounts breaking I decided to go another route and go rubber!

You can use cabinet locks for the bed cubbys:

I got the locks at Home Depot. The only downside is you can't get them keyed alike unless you search through an entire case of them for ones with the same key number, and even then it's just luck.

Also, for the mod where you move the rear differential breather, it's easier to run it along the overhead wiring harness to the left rear brake light well than it is to run it up by the gas filler tube. Just follow the brake light wiring harness right up through the hole, remove the brake light assembly and tie it off with zip ties to the bracket near the top.

Headlight Indicator becomes the Fog Light Indicator

First you need to lift the fuse box so that you can get to the wires underneath.

Remove pin 21 (it will be a black wire w/ a red stripe) and splice it into the light green wire at pin 25. (see pic)

**As you can see, I have already moved pin 19 to the empty slot of pin 13. This is all that needs to be done for the fog light always on mod. It will go off when the key is removed. Credit for this goes to 06tacoman on TN.**

Next you need to remove the instrument cluster and expose the circuit board. Then remove the circled diode (D54) as shown in the pic.

**This would be a good time to remove the door buzzer if you are tired of that noise.**

Put everything back together and you’ll have a factory looking fog light indicator. It took me about 4 hours but that included figuring out how to do it. I think it can be done in less than an hour since those things are known now.
