Thanks for the heads up! Happen to remember the correct wires for 2011? Or anyone else that knows feel free to chime in! Planned to do the alternating blinker without DTRL's tonight or in the morning.

    Thanks!

I don't remember what the wire colors are, BUT -
When you look at the wires for the corners lights, there will be two wires going to each. Both the left and the right side have one wire that's the same color (consider it the common) - LEAVE THIS ONE ALONE.
The other wire going to each one is the one you will cut & splice.

I'm going to get a scrap aluminum 1'' wide x 11'' long x1/4'' thick tap a small hole on one end and use an aluminum rivit for a flush mounting so I can remove it when needed the length and thickness may very according to window channel measurement don't want any gap for a theif and a stiff wire.I also thought about replaceing the latch with a locking one if I can find one.

Going to try this mod, just want to be clear about the splice part. You say splice into the green wire, Im assuming you mean to still leave it connected in the plug or is that now just replaced with the wire going to the relay and the green wire is no longer connected to the plug?

    Thanks
    Bill

By splice I mean leave the wire in place. Use a quick splice to tap into the green wire with the new wire. You're just drawing power to keep the relay on and allow the switch to directly control the fog lights.

I did this today, took 5 minutes at the truck and maybe 2 for the bulb cutting. Was really easy and I like them. However, I would also note that to make them a little more secure in the clips that hold the bulb, take a set of needle nose pliers and just lightly pinch the clips together inside the stock wire harness/bulb holder. Note, you need the wire AND the metal posts to fit inside the holder clips, otherwise, its too thin. I also just rocked carefully the bulb back and forth to disengage it from the plastic base - that allowed me about 1/4 in of extra metal post to work with to cut and not worry about the plastic base in the way.

Pierced Tiger, thanks for the thread putting all these together.

Just finished this mod up. New brightness is awesome! What a great mod. Since I got my cap I have seen much less behind me. Now I can see better through my side mirrors.

Also, people know I'm backing up now and I don't just have a malfunctioning turn signal...

Thanks pierced, wouldn't have done it without the diagram. Great Bulbs too!

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
Had my 2011 DCLB 4x4 for precisely one week now. Of course I've already gone and tweaked with it!

So this mod is about as easy as it gets (well, except for the seat belt chime override for 2008!). And possibly the single most obvious one.

Don't like advertising you have a 4x4? Don't like the white lettering on black mudflaps? Don't have or don't want to spend the money to replace the 4x4 mudflaps with blank ones? Want me to stfu and get on with it?

    Sand 'em.

Mask off the surrounding area with tape (something thicker than Scotch tape......in case it needs to be said). Don't worry about getting all the nooks and crannies inside the lettering taped off- your sander won't be able to get in there.

Slap some 150-grit (anything from 100-grit to 220-grit would do) paper on your electric finish/palm/orbital sander and go to town. Keep pressure on the back/tire side of the flap with your free hand, trying to keep it as flat against the sander as you can. You should have all the white paint off and a nice finish in about one minute, depending on your grit selection.

If you want to match the sheen of the surrounding plastic, keep going up in grit numbers, finishing around 800 or so. I personally like it slightly different, so I left it at 150-grit.

Blow it off with an air gun, brush it a bit with a toothbrush (sans paste. The dentist won't be checking them), and finish by polishing the whole flap with your choice of rubber/plastic protectant.

Pics? Yeah, at some point I'll get some up. But really, you need pics for this???

Damnit man, do some searching! you could have traded those 4x4 flaps for some blank ones for some cash.

I assumed so. Gonna make it look better to me, not seeing a piece of plastic an inch in.
