Cigarette light always on

I haven't done this mod myself. I tend to forget things, and since I'm not driving the truck everyday I don't want to drain the battery. Done that too many times in the past, but I suppose it would be nice sometimes.

Found at http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum...ad.php?t=10988

The .doc file is too big to upload here.

Edit:
Thanks to Marvin!

Access Cab Rear Seat Cover - Seat Down Position

I made a carpet for the storage area behind the front seats when the rear seats are folded flat in an access cab.

Before:

After:

Click a thumbnail to view bigger picture.

I paid $1.19 per foot at a local Menard's. I measured and cut it to length and made the cut-out for the center by the seat-belts. I put it in the cab with the seats folded down and used a wax pencil to mark the places to cut for the wire brackets that stick up and cut the slots with a razor knife. It slides back under the lip of the seat backs about 1/2 inch. Between the cut outs for the brackets and putting it under the seat back it is very secure. Obviously you can get it in any color you can find a carpet runner in and at the price you can replace it if it gets nasty.

Keeps things from sliding around and protects the back of the seat. If you need the seats up you can roll it up and throw it in the bed.

If you have done this mod or have other accessories that are powered on with the key off you might want to buy something like this:

Battery Protector

I plan on getting one since I have the always on mod and a bed light that is powered with the key off. The battery protector I linked to above is the best I have found. You can also find these at places that sell stuff for RVs.

Nice Marvin! Added to the TOC. That'll be good for people with dogs, or putting stuff back there you don't want to slide around!

How ? program key to unlock ALL doors first time

Anyone know the sequence used to program your keyless entry....so that it unlocks all doors on the first press of the button ? Instead of the second press of the button.

2008 Taco dbl cab

thanks...

I assume you mean 2008? Seems like there's a way. Maybe I'll see if I can find it.

Yes....thanks. 2008 model.

I found a sequence where you can do it for earlier models. I tried it on my '08 and couldn't get it to work. But that tells me either (A) I did it wrong or (B) I need a difference sequence for the '08 model.

The tip for shutting off the seat belt chime was the greatest thing that's happened since buying the truck !!

thanks again - - - - -

Found this on TN.... Wanna tell me if it works and I'll clean it up a little for this mod list?

Quote:
The vehicle should meet the following conditions before proceeding; *The key is NOT in the ignition *Driver’s door is OPEN (The others are CLOSED) *Drivers door UNLOCKED (Not necessary for Echo)
1) INSERT and REMOVE the key from the ignition cylinder, TWICE within 5 seconds
2) CLOSE and OPEN the driver’s door TWICE within 40 seconds
3) INSERT and REMOVE the key into the ignition cylinder
4) CLOSE and OPEN the driver’s door TWICE within 40 seconds
5) INSERT the key in the ignition and CLOSE the driver’s door
6) Turn the ignition switch from LOCK to ON and back to LOCK at approx. 1 sec. Intervals “ 2” times to enter REWRITE MODE
7) REMOVE the key from the ignition (The door locks are cycled LOCK-UNLOCK within 3 seconds TWICE to let you know that you have selected REWRITE MODE)
8) Within 40 seconds press BOTH the LOCK & UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter simultaneously for 1 second (Press and release).
9) Within 3 seconds press and release the LOCK button on the same transmitter (The door locks will cycle ONCE if the transmitter was recognized and TWICE if it was not recognized {if you get two cycles start over}).
10) Within 40 seconds repeat step 8 and 9 with any other transmitters you wish to program
11) One of the following will END the Rewrite mode; *40 seconds elapses *Drivers door is opened *Key inserted into the ignition cylinder *4 transmitters are registered

Cheers.

edit: apparantly in step 9 if you push unlock instead of lock, you can unlock all doors with one button push. anyone want to try it? I don't want my neighbors thinking I'm on acid again..

I would love to have this on my truck. I'm constantly in and out of my truck at job sites and I usually leave my keys in the truck. So it's a pain when I go to the passenger side door and it's locked!

What happens if you mess up a step? Will it screw something up or just go back to original?

I think you just start it over again. It's 23F and snowing out, so I'm not going out to try it... lol

Yeah, I've got about 5 inches on the truck now. It would be an excuse to get out and clean it off......maybe tomorrow!

It's 73 degrees, 90% humidity, and it is not raining. Welcome to New Orleans. I'll be wearing shorts this weekend and still be sweating.

OK, I tried this two times and it did not work. Although, I think I killed my second transmitter - it does not work now.

I will not be playing around with these goofy sequences again!

Open all four doors at once - - -

That's pretty much the same type of hokey pokey recipe that I found for changing the program on the seatbelt chime. And it worked great !! Perfect.

It was a long drawn out formula. And it took me 3 or 4 tries before I got it right. I actually took my laptop out to the truck so I could read the dang sequence. Problem is you only have a few seconds to process a few of the steps. That plus I'm old which makes it where I can't remember the sequence once I read the next one !! ha

But it worked great on the seatbelt chime. The chime still rings but only initially and then it let's it go and leaves it up to you if you want to buckle up or not. Which I do.....it's just that I don't want a constant annoying chime over and over and over and over...ding, ding, ding, ding. I'm like....remind me once and let it go. And that's what the magic formula did.

I read there's a formula for the "all four doors open same time" key contoller.

I'll give this one a try and report back.

over 'n out - - - -
