    Thanks btkicker....

Removing the wire from the connector looks complicated??? I'll probably cut the wire further down from the 25 pin connector where all the wires are taped together.... and then tape over. That way it wont be noticeable... Can a technician notice that the electrical system as been tempered with from diagnostic from OBDII?? I was just wondering if I get a problem in the future that needs diagnostics... or when I get my ECU reflashed for the TSB-0373-09... could it be possible that the system will flag or tell the tech somehow that the truck's electrical as been tampered with...

Is this feature 4LO TRAC a must in a V6 auto.... Or is 4HI TRAC in first gear sufficient...

Thanks in advance for all your comments and responses

That would be a good way to hide it. Depending where they plug in for the reflash they may not have to touch the ECU. That is the ECU for the trction control system/4x4 system. When you look behind there, there are 3 or 4 ECUs. the engine and tranny are not controlled by this computer. What many people are doing is wiring in a switch in line with the wire to restore the connection. I have an issue i will solder the wire back together and wrap th harness up with electrical tape. I doubt theyd notice it. Even if they did they dont have proof you did it, play dumb. Its not like thats one of the things they check on predelivery...

Okay, I just did mine and popped the wire out. BUT, it way wasn't worth the time...close to 30-40 minutes. I had to fish for the lil plastic hook with a safety-pin, and it still looks like you messed with the wire.

Just do yourself a favor, and do what everyone else has done, clip the wire 4-5" down, and wrap it in electrical tape to match the existing tape. Next, go to the fridge, grab a beer and call it a day. 5 minutes tops.

Yeah, just solder the 2 ends, and wrap the bundle in electrical tape to match the existing. Good as new.

Very glad to see everyone is enjoying this. I took a lot of bashing at first, and this is a very cool mod. I still find that ATRAC is more aggressive, but noisier, and far more vibration.
FWIW - not worth the $$ for lockers or the Off Road package especially. I only bought one because I have a brake controller, and wanted fog lamps, and the towing package. In Canada that means bend over and by the O.R....Only cost an extra $8000 to get those 3 items...... Keep the posts comin.....More vids would be cool to.

Hi gang, I just traded my '05 4 door Taco TRD 4WD for a 2010, with all these new traction devices... Thanks to Outlaw for linking me to this thread, and I have read all 7 pages of posts. I am in California, so it seems that what Isthatahemi experienced was because the ATRAC isn't offered in Canada and that is why the wire needs to be cut (or on any models without ATRAC button)? In other words, the ATRAC button I have does the same thing as cutting the wire... gives me LSD action front and rear, in 4-Lo.

If I also lock the rear diff, and have ATRAC activated, I am a tractor and can get out of anything or up a wall? (Yes, I am kidding... but am I close to be correct?)

Thanks for the videos Yoytoda! There is a road in Baja you will love...

Trac is the combination of auto LSD and VSC

2010 TRD offroad has trac as well. If you put your truck in 4hi (diff unlocked) you are in TRAC by default. The mod is for non TRD OR trucks. We are using TRAC as (ATRAC in 4lo) because our trucks do not have ATRAC. You are fine stock. This mod is an attempt to replicate your truck (minus the locker)

ATRAC is such a tight system it is really like having lockers front and rear. TRAC is a smoother sytem, but allows a fair amount of slip.

With the rear locker, and ATRAC, the truck is very capable. However, with the rear locked, ATRAC only works at crawl speeds. Unlock the rear, and ATRAC functions up to 30 mph. (I think)

I don't follow, why not just cut the wire, now there is a visible indicator to the dealer that you've modded?

I wanted to be able to have the wire "connected" when I didn't need it. I dont know why, just paranoid I guess. Plus I having a secret switch in my glove box is cool. I'm not to concerned about tipping off a dealer, why would they be going in there anyway? Is that were they do there diagnostics?

Is the 2010 model the first year with A-TRAC (so you don't need to cut the wire) in the U.S.? Mgrande has an '09... or is it because his is a Sport and not Off Road TRD?

So, A-TRAC is only on Off Road TRDs ? What year model was the first (anyone)? I had a 2005 Off Road TRD before, and no LSD or VSC or TRAC or A-TRAC... Just good old fashion open differentials with the rear locker. That's why I have these many questions. The owner's manual is sure poorly written and lacks details!
