AMSOil Bypass Filtration

I searched my ass off on here and couldn't find anything, so is anybody running an amsoil bypass filter set-up on there 05+? If so, what set-up are you using and how do you like it.

Most people wouldn't bother with the bypass filtration set-up. It would only really be necessary if you were running 20-25k OCI's with a really high quality synthetic (such as amsoil). There are really only two reasons to do this:

1) you really hate changing oil and want to do it as infrequently as possible.
2) you drive 50k or more miles a year and can't spare the time to do monthly oil changes.

Toyota engines will last 300k+ miles with 5-10k OIC's on mineral based or off-the-shelf sythetic oil and off-the-shelf filters so why go through the hassle and cost of the bypass system?

I'm doing a bypass installation for Reason #1 and Reason #3.

Reason #4 is that I want to make a best effort at providing my engine with the cleanest, coolest supply of lubricant possible.

Sadly, my '10 has a pile of ABS plumbing where the engine bay install was done.

Something on the radiator bulkhead may be possible but, again, I have an A/C condenser and additional shrouds compared to that particular 4Runner.

The good news about these kits is that with sufficient oil lines, the filter block can be mounted almost anywhere.

 

Adding complexity to the lubrication system on these trucks invites a problem, without solving any problem. The engine will last as long as the vehicle. In my opinion this type of mod is a bad idea. Now if the truck had a known issue, that would be a different story. IMO
