CV boot band woes

So I have now blown 4 CV boot bands off. Big mess, grease everywhere. 3 outers and one inner so far. The first 3 were pre-lift, and now the outer after a 2" lift. The first 3 were replaced under warranty, and it goes back again for the 4th time??

Anyone ever hear of this?

Even under warranty I am sick of going to the dealer and I would pay for a perminent fix.

I drive 95% hiway, nothing crazy here.

That sucks. Hopefully they will still fix it after the lift. Have you ever brought the band into them and asked if they can find why they are breaking not just fix it.

Huh. Never heard of that happening. I don't have 4x4 so I'm probably not that much help. Isn't there a lip on the boot to keep this from happening.

Sure doesn't make sense with the pre-lift slipping off because the rubber boot has molded ribs that sort of captures the band from sliding off. However, if the recessed area where the band is actually seated in is still greasy, I would think it could slip off at extreme suspension travels. Aftermarket bands do suck if you don't have the proper dedicated tool to twist and tighten the band before you fold it over and crimp. If you're using pliers (like I did) there's more chance for a loose fitting band. Would a diff drop spacer kit help limit any extreme angles into the boot?

sounds like who ever is putting the bands on isnt making them tight. I did mine my self it was a pain. but they should be super tight.
