I've had the truck for a couple of months now with 2k miles on it, it's average 18 in all city driving which can rarely get into 5th gear. My wifes total commute is 5 miles, I'm still pleased because her old F150 only got 8-10 in town.

    Don't believe it...

I drive 135 miles, round trip everyday. Most are highway miles so that means between 70 and 80. I try to stay in 6th as much as possible but when I have to pass the immigrants in the left lane, I have to shift down to 5th and go around :D

I keep close track of my mileage and I am getting between 17 and 19 mpg with regular gas. I live outside the range of the ethanol nonsense but some gas stations still buy it.

Oh yeah, I have about 5700 miles on my V6 with the 6 speed...

I think all brands have some ethanol (Fed requirement) but Valero gas gives me the best mileage. Shell is among the lowest. Shop around and run a few tanks of each, then decide which is best.

Another way to think about this is price per mile. Mid-grade gas, though more expensive, may give better mileage than Regular. If the % improvement in gas mileage is larger than the % difference in price, then it's a good deal.

    GEEZ Rob -
You come down from the FT Collins area every day ?? I know a lot of people do. How do you deal with the 104th to 76 jam up ?

I end up going the other way - lakewood to Erie; but I use Sheridan (light traffic and good light timing) and can due 50 in 5th and 6th and end up with 21.5 - 21.8 as a multiple tank average.
City boulevard and hiway mix usually nets me in the mid 20's at higher speeds, BUT . . .

I dont go 70+ generally, as that really takes the edge off, but primarily because I set my own schedule and I dont need the stress.

I drive from Firestone to Meridian Business Park at I-25 and Lincoln. I drive I-25 south in the morning and e-470 to US85 to Ft Lupton and then to Firestone at night.

I refuse to drive I-25 during normal drive times due to the bad traffic. When I get on it in the morning at 5:30 or so, there is very little traffic, although it has been increasing over the past 5 years. It's not hard to run at 75 most of the way through Denver at that time. At that time of the day, I-25 north of Denver usually rolls at 80-95 mph. Nice pack to travel in, if you can keep up :)

My one month old V6 auto is getting 17.25 mpg over it's first 5 tanks full.
Best 20.06 (last tank) worst 14.64 (second tank). I drive with the A/C on 90% of the time here. The two best tank fulls were freeway/mountain road driving with the latest one not being baby-ed (70~75 and having some fun in the tweesties with 5 adults onboard) :D
So far I'm very happy with the Taco's fuel ecomomy.
