No, your math is perfect. You just have an atypical miracle truck, and the other 50% of us that consistently get nowhere near 20mpg on a regular basis are cursed:rolleyes:
Look, it just doesn`t make sense (24mpg...), but I`m sure the Kool-aide is tasty:cool:

Yes my friend, the koolaid is very tasty and VERY sweet!!!!!:)
Just to add a couple of stats on the pickup.....big o AT tires 265/75/16, fresh denso plugs, mobil 1 front diff/transfer case/engine, royal purple rear diff, stock air filter(dirty), auto tranny, 06' access cab 4x4 offroad 74,000miles...I always use shell/chevron 91-93 and drive slow n steady on pavement, no racing or speeding(cant afford another speeding ticket:D)

Which brings back the question on my post on 10/7....WHY do some of these trucks get awesome MPG with the v6, while others get WAY less:confused: Know someone with an 05 access cab 4x4 four banger and shes getting 20-23 she claims.....SO glad I got the 6! Love the power (when I actually let myself feel it instead of sluggin around town:rolleyes:;))

not to many, love it the way it is
I have gotten 24 mpg also with my v6 on a roadtrip.Average is between 20.5 to 22.5. Everything on my truck is pretty much 6 lug sr5 stock. People add so much add ons to these trucks that the gas mileage goes way down, though I have read where some trucks from factory get crappy gas mileage, must be computer related on their truck.

4WDs and 2WDs are not the same... so they will not get the same mileage even if they share the V-6 and auto. tranny.

I would love to get 20 or more mpg and not have to drive like a 90 year old grandmother!

Finally checked my fuel economy with the following aero dynamic challenges...

    Shrockworks bumper, 4x4, 4 lightforce 170s, 4.56 gears, BFG KM2s (285/75/16) @ 36 psi, 3 inch lift (2 in rear ;)), tire carrier in bed.

    13 MPG

Check it when you do a highway run Paul... Mine goes 15-16 in town to 17-19 hwy. and I am all stock (as you know) except for the pair of Hella 4000s and the light bar in front!

A quick question. I'm looking at buying an 05 SR5 2wd with a 9" lift and 37" tires. What kinda gas milage should I expect (city/hwy)? I live in Florida so it's flat.

    Thanks

13? Don't expect anything over 15 i would say with a decent amount of confidence.

i feel your pain, i have front and rear cbi bumpers, demello rock crusher sliders (they weight around 100 to 115 lbs) 285/70/17. i try and keep close to 45 psi in my tires, and if i drive like a old person, i can get 15.75.
90% of the time i get 14 to 15. i am thinking about next time getting
255/85/16. seems like it would have to get better. if i could get 17 on average, i would be thrilled.

It will be somewhere between the Tacoma recommended 29/32 and the max. for that tire... 45 psi?

When I had the Cooper Discoverer STTs I found that 32 was too squisshy feeling when driving/ steering... fine for the lighter Rugged Trails, however. I believe 40 psi worked best on the STTs, for me.

That is on the highway. My truck is what we call, aerodynamically and rolling resistance challenged! I will have a RTT over my bed for a trip to DV and we'll see.

Mine gets a little over 20 on the highway, but it's usually 16-17 in town.

my mpg seems to be REAL low ever since i got new tires. with 285/75/16's, i got around 330 miles out of a full tank. now, 265/75/16 E rated tires, i get around 240 miles out of a tank. thats almost a 100 mile difference  my 285's were bigger and heavier then my 265's, so what gives? any ideas? i ran my 285's at 32psi and my 265's are at 42psi.

Thats a big difference, wonder if the size of the tire can impact the odometer like it does the speedometer? I will monitor this thread as I want to find out myself if that is the case. Wish I was more of a techi.

did the tire shop calibrate your transmission for the tire size change you might not be reading correctly
